HISTORY / EVIDENCE KEY
How to read the archive
Each history witness points to evidence while keeping uncertainty, source type, and image-rights boundaries visible. The archive is a recoverable record in progress, not a claim that every part of the shop's history is complete.
THE METHOD
Four labels, four different jobs
- Witness
- One approved record that points to a source. A witness can establish a bounded observation without completing the whole history.
- Confidence
- The record's existing evidence-language. It is not a numeric score, authenticity grade, price signal, or guarantee.
- Source class
- The kind or origin of the source. It helps a reader understand context; it does not rank or endorse the source.
- Asset status
- The capture and rights boundary for related media. It remains separate from what the cited text or artifact can establish.
